Life Cycle Cost Analysis

Life Cycle Cost Analysis

Many factors go into figuring out what type of corrosion system you are going to use on your project, whether it is painted or galvanized. Too often, the only cost analysis performed at the inception of a project is the initial cost. The true cost of maintaining the structure for the life of the structure is generally not figured in. The Life Cycle Cost Calculator gives you the ability to input your job specific data and compare pricing, not only on the initial cost, but on your true Life Cycle Cost of the project over its expected life. This is a terrific tool for Owners, Architects, Engineers and Fabricators.

Data Source:

KTA Tator, Inc., a consultant to the paint industry, conducts a survey of paint manufacturers biennially. The current data is based on the results of the 2008 survey which were published in Paper No. 08279 “Expected Service Life and Cost Considerations for Maintenance and New Construction Protective Coating Work” (Helsel, Lanterman, Wissmar), presented at the 2009 National Association of Corrosion Engineering (NACE) conference. Durability data, i.e. time to maintenance and time to full repaint in the paper is based on actual in-field performance.

Data for hot-dip galvanizing costs is based on a 2009 national survey conducted by the American Galvanizers Association (AGA) and durability data is based on field performance as well as models developed using statistical methods, neural network technology and an extensive worldwide corrosion database.
